I am a lifelong learner with a passion for helping others. Growing up in Central America gave me a deep appreciation for the Spanish language and Latin American culture, which led me to earn my undergraduate degree in Spanish Education at Calvin College. After teaching Spanish and raising four children, I pursued my master’s degree in Social Work at Spring Arbor University, where I discovered my true calling in walking alongside students, individuals, and families through life’s challenges.
I use a strengths-based approach, believing that every person has unique abilities and resources that can be uncovered and developed to promote well-being and growth. Sometimes those strengths need a little help to shine through, and I enjoy helping clients tap into them. I provide support in managing concerns such as depression, anxiety, and ADHD, and I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy to guide the process.
As a Christian, my faith shapes the way I care for others. I believe in treating people with empathy, patience, and respect. My hope is to become an ally and a source of support, while honoring each client’s personal beliefs and preferences in counseling.
Outside of the office, I love spending time with my family at sporting events and school activities. Summer is my favorite season, and you can often find me by the shores of Lake Michigan. I enjoy playing tennis and cheering on football from the sidelines—or from the couch!
