Dr. Wichterman brings nearly 11 years of extensive experience in the mental health field, having worked in both home-based and outpatient settings. His practice encompasses a wide range of clients, including men, young adults, adolescents, and children, each presenting unique challenges and backgrounds. Dr. Wichterman is deeply committed to collaborating with clients who are grappling with a variety of issues, including interpersonal relationship difficulties, behavioral concerns, emotional struggles, and complexities surrounding Christian faith and spirituality.

His therapeutic approach is characterized by a strong emphasis on understanding the individual within the context of their life experiences. Dr. Wichterman is proficient in several therapeutic modalities, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Christian Counseling. The latter is particularly significant in his practice, as it integrates faith as a core component of the therapeutic process, offering clients a holistic framework that contrasts with more secular and humanistic approaches. This integration allows clients to explore their spiritual beliefs and values as part of their healing journey, fostering a deeper connection to their faith while addressing psychological challenges.

Dr. Wichterman holds a firm belief that young adults, adolescents, and children are frequently misunderstood and often subjected to an overabundance of diagnoses. He has observed a concerning trend among some professionals who may hastily resort to medication as a primary solution for negative behaviors, without thoroughly investigating the systemic and trauma-related factors that could be influencing these behaviors. This perspective drives his passion for working closely with clients to uncover and address these underlying issues, rather than defaulting to pharmacological interventions.

By prioritizing a comprehensive understanding of each client’s unique circumstances, Dr. Wichterman aims to guide them toward sustainable relief from their symptoms. He believes that true healing comes from addressing the root causes of distress, fostering resilience, and empowering clients to develop healthier coping mechanisms. His dedication to this process not only helps clients navigate their challenges but also encourages personal growth and a renewed sense of hope in their lives. Through his compassionate and insightful approach, Dr. Wichterman strives to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, ultimately leading to transformative change.
