Amy Bolkcom, MA, LPC

Amy believes that all clients come to counseling with a personal story that includes important relationships, significant events, and beliefs about themselves and the world. Counseling involves understanding how our stories shape the way we view ourselves, approach challenges, and relate to others. She feels privileged to listen to clients’ stories and help them work towards their own goals for wellness and change.

Amy finds that the most significant change happens when we embrace the goodness of the gospel and let Jesus meet us in places of weakness, pain, and confusion. However, she will only include a Christian framework if you want it incorporated in your counseling. She desires to treat all clients with respect and compassion no matter their background or beliefs.

Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She earned her Master of Arts in Counselor Education from Western Michigan University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornerstone University. She has experience working with anxiety, depression, relationship and family concerns, trauma, stress, emotional regulation, faith concerns, and life adjustments. Amy typically approaches counseling from a cognitive-behavioral and narrative framework but will utilize different modalities to help clients reach their goals. She has served as a counselor in higher education, and especially enjoys working with young adults who are experiencing personal, academic, and career related challenges.
